I WANT TO ASK WHY DOES A COMPLETE DOCTOR WHOSE DECISIONS CAN MEAN LIFE AND DEATH FOR SOMEONE, REQUIRE RESERVATIONS FOR HIGHER STUDIES.

IS DOCTOR THROUGH RESERVATIONS ANY LESS A DOCTOR

I have been in support of this movement right from the early days, and I am still. But I take this oppurtunity to make an appeal to all doctors, regarding stop '' calling peoples from quota as incompetent''. Many a times people from such quotas outshine we people. Moreover, its against our etiquette to talk and protest preaching such cheap slogans. I agree such reservation should not be implemented at higher education level( post grad, post BE ). I welcome some healthy responses

To: President Of India
Following are the problems because of the Reservations in Private Sector:
1. Talented people will not get good position. So they will get migrated to other countries.
Causing India loosing the Talent.
2. No new MNC will enter India. Becoz they won't spare employees without Talent unlike our Govt Companies.
Causing Unemployment in India.
3. Existing Indian/MNC companies will stop their units and will slowly migrate to other countries where they will get benefit.
Causing degradation of development.
4. People will fight each other on caste basis.
Causing violation in India. No peace can exist.

These are the major factors which will affect the nation.
I request you to please stop the proposal of Reservations in Private Sector. Also try to remove them from all the sectors. Please make the reservations only based on the economic status rather than caste.
Some political leaders to cash the vote bank are trying to put reservations based on caste and religion in private sectors too.

Please stop this and make India as a developing nation.

Sincerely,

Caste based reservation and tushtikaran policies should be completely removed from India as they are spreading the poison of inequality in the Indian Society. What right did they have to touch the sacred Constitution when it was clearly written in the constitution that the reservations should be only for ten years. Are these people think themselves bigger than Dr. Ambedkar? Bhrast log tushtikaran ka jahar pilakar bharatiya samaj ke saath 'divide and rule" ki neeti apna rahe hain. Throw them out!

As told in the online interview , if Arjun Singh claims not knowing the ABCs about the education pattern in OBCs, what he is doing in Indian politics since last so many years, only managing party funds. What the opposition parties doing till now. Varun Gandhi, wake up! The Indian youths will be behind you. Reservation & Rising Prices are today's burning issues.Corrupt politicians are involved in rigging the stock market and commodities market. Inhonen Garibon ke Aate Dal ko bhi nahin chhoda , usme bhi satta (speculation) chalakar garib aur kisanon ko aur garib aur backward bana rahe hain, aur backward classes ko aage lane ki sirf batein karte hain. All BCs and OBCs please beware!

ACHIEVEMENTS OF UPA GOVT IN TWO YEARS........

PLEASEEEEEEEEEE READ THIS

Friends,

Is this just the reservations that are bringing our Nationalism out today or is there something deep rooted within us since long that wants to come out. Isn't something simmering on since long enough thats talking this all. Isn't that, we, in our own country feel persued, prosecuted, being denied the right things. Politicians making a mokery of the system to suit their needs. Even after paying our taxes sincerely, we can't even get a proper electric/water supply and we claim to be on the threshold of modern age.

Just read my post which I wanted to share with all my nationalist brothers and sisters.

Let me remind you some of the events that took place since this UPA Govt has assumed office:

1. Removing Anupam Kher unceremoniously as the Censor Board chairman. He was branded RSS man by Lefties? Is that democratic?

2. Removing NDA appointed Governors just after assuming Govt.

3. Re-writing history books. - Long live the Arjun, who is doing a Duryodhan's job, so that you only get the perspective they want you to know. Btw, if you are not aware, most of historians in the panels that draft history books are patrons of Left parties.

4. Union Cabinet minister gone underground - Shibu Sorent has murder charges and FIR pending. Imagine a cabinet level minister gone missing. These are the kind of people who make laws for us?

5. Democratically elected Goa State Govt is made scapegoat and thrown out by cheating by Governor/Centre.

6. Bihar election results are declared null and void by Governor Buta Singh and see what Supreme court delivered on it. Still this man took the salute on 26 Jan, which is a shame for us. Tax payers like you and me bear the 200 crore cost of unwanted election.

7. Natwar Singh, Sonia Gandhi are named beneficiary in Oil for Food bribe scam by UN's Volkers report. Natwar gone, she is still in there as the chairperson for the remote controlled PM. The commission set up to probe it will never be complete.

8. Bofors- The guns that will never fall silent. - Mr Q in Italy is helped by Ms Gandhi to get away with millions of Tax payers money stached away in UK banks and how they make us believe that it was CBI that did this and the Law minsister, Ms Gandhi and PM knew nothing. Can you buy this argument.?

9. Reservation for Muslims in AP. High court, Supreme court came down heavily on the Govt. Still they are finding out ways to get around this and continue appeasement policy. Are they secular..? Btw, OBC reservations do cover muslims and Dalit christians? Why they converted to Christianity, if they still wanted a Dalit tag?

10. Minority status for AMU. Even after receiving hammering from Supreme Court. The recent AICC convention has shown how the Govt is defiant in taking in the ruling and is still going ahead with its plans.

11. Bangladesh in Assam - The demographics of the state has changed virtually with the unabated influx of Bangladeshi's. The supreme court scrapped the IMTD act (Applicable in Assam only) - which allowed free home to Bangladeshi. Now with that act gone, the central Govt is setting in a tribunal under Foreigners Act to allow people to prove that they are not foreigners. How difficult is it to get a ration card in India..?? Rs 500-1000. Thats the way the Govt is planning to allow these people to stay in Assam and make one more Kashmir for us.

12. The Govt. tinkered with the idea of compiling data on Muslims in Army. About their field positions, social background and other such info. Isn't it making tasks simpler for likes of ISI. They will get a compiled report. Armed forces so far have been apolitical and based on merit.

13. Scorpene Submarine Scandal - Known commission is to the tune of 800 crore. Could we not have more IIM's, IIT's and AIIMS with the whole deals money which is Rs 18,500 crore? Do we need submarines or more schools/colleges? Ironically, it may end up in yet another schools scam.

14. Office of Profit - Did we want a re-election in Rae-Bareily? Why is our hard earned money wasted on such events. Madam Gandhi started this by targeting Jaya Bacchan and when she saw fire engulfing her, she became socalled ""Supreme"" by Sacrificing her MP seat, just to re-enter parliament wasting tax payers money and what happened to the Office of Profilt thing. Simple, the Govt just modified constitution to suit their needs. Exclude all such posts that UPA ministers/MP's are holding. Is this not killing the constitution and using parliament to suit their own needs. - Be it Congress, "Moral High" Lefties or BJP's

15. Delhi Demolitions - MCD/Politicians collude with builders - allow rampant violations of Land use. Shut their eyes on illegal constructions mushrooming all over Delhi. When the High court goes after the illegal encroachments/buildings, Our honourable MP's (ALL OF THEM) pass a bill putting demolitions on hold. Are they doing Public service or dis-service??

16. Mandal - II - We all know what this is all about. Driving a wedge between society. Govt could not get reservations for muslims, "Dalit Christians" and ofcourse their OBC vote bank. Who is benefiting by this reservations? People in AP, Maharashtra, Orrisa are committing suicide because they can't support their families. Can they afford lacs of rupees as fee for IIM's and AIIMS? Its the creamy effluent layer in OBC's that is benefitted by this policy.

Btw, remember the previous Congress Govt..? Narisimha Rao. Some of their achievements
- Security Scam/ Harshad Mehta
- JMM bribery case for saving Govt in parliament. (Shibu Soren)
- St Kitts Forgery case (Lakhu Bhai Pathak)
- Sugar Scam
- Coal Scam
- Urea Scam
- UTI scam
- Petrol Pump Allocation Scam

This is what I could gather from my short memory. Almost every ministry had a scam to its credit and even the PM was not spared. Accused by Harshad Mehta and Lakhu Bhai for having received money. The scams during that period were to the tune of Rs 1300 crore (including the famous Laloo Fodder Scam) and where are we today..? Nothing happened. Just commissions constituted, with no outcome. Was even a single politician prosecuted.

This is the report card of the UPA Govt in just over two year. Imagine what Congress has been doing around for past 50 years it has ruled India. Its just that now we have these mediums to share our thoughts and view points.

Thats why we need movie's like RDB to rekindle our senses and make us stir up our lost memories about freedom fighters other than the Nehru/Gandhi Parivaar and before another Gandhi (rahul) is super-imposed on to this nation. We need to get up..

Was wondering whom the newly developed airports would be named after.. Which Gandhi this time..??

Please think brothers.. The English left shores 60 years back, but they left the Italians and Congress for us to deal with. Think....!! Help this nation rid itself from dynasty rules, corrupt politicians and people with ideologies which are regressive for the nation (Left parties). The Left parties which today claim to represent the poor lot have their masters in China. If anyone remembers, these are the same people who were busy raising funds for China during the 1962 Indo-China war.

Keep this list updated by adding where ever the Govt falters and read it before you go out to vote next time.

PLEASE VOTE - thats the only way we can bring in about changes, if not by jumping into the world of politics.

PLEASE CIRCULATE AMONG YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY - PLEASE DO SO
If you cant email it, print it and hand it out to people

Cheers Pals
JAI HIND

whts da deal in the south? 5/21/2006 3:27 PM
im a medical student from chennai studyin in a private clge and the lack of response in my city disgusts me.1 reason could be that since already 69% reservation is implemented here most students in all clges have come thro reservation n they obsyly wont b against it.but this kinda selfish i dun give a shit abt my country attitude scares me....

unfortunately tamil nadu is the future of india if this new reservation comes in2 force.n leme tell u ppl sayin reservation has wrked in tn are simply put-lying.it is one of the states most divided on caste lines.caste based politics is rampant n discrimination occurs at every possible level.its a myth dat reservation has wrked...it has only sharpely divided the society futher on archaiac caste lines.

n its not surprising that official figures say chennai has the highest no. of gratuades leavin to the us...n again its no shock that the line outside the american councellate is ever growin...the so called upper caste are outcastes in their own states n they have to leave their country to be able 2 fulfil their potential.

il jus like to say jus cuz i belong to da so called upper class upper caste section doesnt mean that this country belongs to me any less n vice versa, its painz me to see any citizen of this country treated as 2nd class, this kinda reverse discrimination is 1ly goina create more strife and a vicious cycle where different sectionz feel victamised alternatively.

but unfortunately an unhappily n angry electorate is wht all politicianz are looking for n we cant let them win!

1)The form of protest must be unambiguous. 2)Its connection to your announcement should appear obvious.
3)It should be easily creatable and displayable by anyone.
I repeat that the sign must appear

I fully agree with Mona please launch a website and register a society where we can support you financialy from USA in fact others from overseas. It is very important at this point to include all other colleges not just medical.Remember medical service is very important for the society so if this strike is prolonged it will loose its strength as the patients and relatives will get against the movement. Before that happens think about running the emergency services with appointed doctors in rotation before the pro reservation cash this situtation. we all are with you. If the student leaders can get the copy of original constitution and show that to every one . It was proposed for a fixed time frame and that time is already passed.
Remember the calculation which govt is proposing . For example you have 100 seats 50% reserved which is 50 to each group now if the seats are increased for example 150 in that case 75 seats to both groups . look at this situtation there is significant increase in reservation seats because the way population is increasing the seats should be increased any way and if that is done than there is no need to increase the reservation as reserved seats will increse automatically with total increase in the number of seats. All youth are same at professional level and the competetion should be fair. The new poilicy can be a cut off percentage for getting admission in professional colleges beyond any reservation for anyone. How many reserved candidates who score good in merit apply in open quota , you can find many but can you find anyone from open quota applying for a seat in reserved category.
Open competetion is what India needs now. have national central exams for all professional courses and decide the cutoff . this cuttoff should be the prerequsite for admission because this will decide whether you are worth for the profession or not. now above this cutoff see how many reserve candidates are there and than priority can be given to the reserved class who are above the cuttoff and according to there quota. If it is not filled up than it goes in open quota.

i propose a few other reservations (although I never knew OBCs were ever discriminated against).

Since there is mutual discrimination among north and south indians, I propose reservation for north Indians in south India and for south indians in north india.

Since the north east has been discriminated against, let us have reservation in the rest of india for north-eastern people. And vice versa.

Since mumbaikars discriminate against non-mumbaikars, we should have reservation for non-mumbaikars in mumbai / maharashtra. Ditto for kolkata / WB - let's have reservation for non-bengalis in west bengal.

Since Kashmir has discriminated aginst pandits, let us have reservation for pandits in Kashmir.

Since villagers are discriminated against in cities, let us have reservations for villagers in cities.

Since we have been discriminated against by the British during their rule, let us also ask for reservations for Indians in the UK. As far as the discrimination under muslim rule is concerned, let us ask for reservations for indians in countries like Afghanistan and Iran as well. For fairness' sake, let us also include France and Portugal.

Please think of some other reservations also that are liable to bring 'equality' and end 'discrimination' in the world.

Kaushik Das

Dear Friends,
Yesterday I joined a rally in Pune. Some guys were distributing pamphlets which gave me this blog address.
I want to mention that I was not very much impressed with the energy level of the people.Around half of the people were appealing to the other half that we should be silent and not shout out slogans. The rally came to an abrupt end without any discussions taking place.
Guys I want to say that if we dont extend the boundaries (Here i dont mean break them) I dont think we are violating any rules.
We must be more enthusiastic and determined to thwart away the evil face of reservation that is creeping into our education system.
I hereby appeal to each and everyone....PLEASE UNITE AND APPEAL AGAINST THE RESERVATIONS.
UNITED WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
TOGETHER WE CAN AND WE WILL PREVAIL.....

JAI HIND.

Respected doctors
please dont be so adamant on your stands because the manner in which you are organizing the anti-reservation stir will actually lead to hardening of the opposition also.
India does not constitute of doctors alone there are hundreds and thousands of people, who are biding their time, so the issue gets resolved peacefully.
The govt has also agreed that the general seats wont be affected, than what is the problem.
Does this mean that upper castes want to maintain a monopoly on these elite professions.
Please see the other side of the story and go beyond the entire merit debate.
The OBCs and backward castes are dismayed with the kind of behaviour put on display.
If the medicos refuse to see reason than it very likely that lower caste people would also come on street. And mind you when this happens than a mindless blood bath is ensured.

The whole nation sat in front of the TV sets viewing the

atrocities being perpetrated upon both the life-saving, service-oriented

medical community & against the humanity in general. We have seen how

the general public in need of urgent medical help was suffering due to

the strike. We have seen how the parents of one child named Saleem,

We, as a nation need to address this issue urgently. Just how long can a

because it's supposed to be on toes at all time, it being an essential

services community? We, the public at large, need to

come out against the govt's shameless reservation policies lest

innumerable Saleems' would face imminent death at the hands of

sub-standard medical professionals.

Or does the govt wants some action by the youth of this

I am posting a article i found on the net which will enlighten the doctors and make them realize that it is better to be flexible.

Bahujans ready for street battle

OUR CORRESPONDENT
Bangalore: Upper caste medical college students, who have grown fat on our sweat and blood, have come to the street to fight our human rights (reservations).

Their opposition to reservations to Backward Castes in higher education remind us the 1991 violent anti-Mandal war and violence launched by the same well-fed forces in Delhi.

Editor’s house attacked: Our Editor had just then shifted to Delhi, taken up a rented flat in Vasant Vihar and started publishing DV when Prime Minister V.P. Singh suddenly announced implementation of the Mandal Commission Report. That triggered student violence. It began in Delhi University, and spread to JNU where the Dalit students became the target.

Though Mandal report had nothing to do with Dalits but only BCs, the victims of upper caste violence were the Dalits— not BCs.

Four JNU Dalit students had taken shelter in his flat and that made the upper caste students to attack the Editor’s house. Doors were broken open, and DV and books were thrown out.

The Editor was not in the flat. When he came in the night, doors were wide open and the upper caste neighbours were enjoying his agony.

“National” newspapers, however, put out false reports, a self-immolation was staged by pushing a BC boy into a fire lit opposite the All-India Inst. of Medical Sciences junction.
There was curfew. The whole of Delhi was forcibly closed down.

Dalits defend Mandal:

The upper castes were on the rampage. The Central Govt. itself became helpless. The artificially manufactured upper caste agitation brought down the V.P. Singh Govt. itself.
And in disgust and sheer helplessness, the Editor wound up his office after suffering over Rs. 1 lakh loss and went back to Bangalore as he could not bring out DV which was burnt in the JNU Campus.

The beauty of the whole drama was though the Mandal was to benefit the BCs they only attacked the Dalits at the instigation of upper castes.
But it was the Dalits who fought back and defended the Mandal report. It was the Dalits who suffered for the BCs.

Hate as staple food:

The BCs were sleeping. The vigilant and cunning Brahminical people took advantage of the BC weakness and made BCs to attack Dalits. And thus they succeeded in making brothers fight brothers.

In the latest anti-BC agitation by the upper caste boys and girls, once again the BCs are mum.

Instead of holding rallies in support of Arjun Singh and taking the upper caste boys head on, there is total silence on the part of BCs as this is written. We want to impress upon the BCs that they cannot win their human rights without fighting, suffering, dying and sacrificing.

Dalits will definitely come in support of BCs though BCs never supported us in our struggle.

India’s road to social justice is only through caste war. The upper castes hate us only because of our caste. Such a caste hatred is centuries old.
In spite of Western education they continue to live in their little world where their staple food is hate. So we cannot expect them to change.
In fact the more educated are more aggressive and more violent.

BCs have to get ready for the caste war and the Dalits will be ever ready to support them. The upper castes have to be confronted and countered.

Both in population and our physical strength, we can finish them.
Justice and Truth are on our side. And we have nothing to fear. What we lack is imagination, proper strategies and tactics.

In the coming days there will be more violence and we should be ready for street battles.

we should ask govt why there is no reservation in army and other armed forces ?
after all if govt see reservation as only mean of upliftment of weaker section then there should be reservation in N.D.A and I.M.A.
also.
why is govt not ready to take 50%
of officers in army from weaker section ?
answer is because govt cannot compromise with nations defence
but this same govt is ready to compromise with lives of general public by reserving seats in hi
gher education.

The idea of a Public Interest Litigation
(PIL) someone proposed is long term and
effective. That does not mean we do not
continue with these protests.
PIL is a legally accepted way
of bringing the government to task. If
the government has sat of things for the past 30-40 years, then it cannot pass the
buck onto any collective protest and related matters. I suggest that the PIL be based on the government encouraging casteism which is banned by our constitution. Hit the rascal point blank so that doing it once would be
sufficient....for eliminating the rascal.

If it is a story , then there will be many other stories that'll counter this.

If it is a truth , then the time has come that we got rid of these nomenclature.

An Italian woman told her co passenger onboard the Indian Airlines flight to Ahmedabad on sunday, leading to immediate evacuation of the aircraft that had several high profile travellers.

" The woman was under immense tension due to her medical condition and muttered the words to her curious co-passenger, who suspected something fishy due to her tense brows."

Well ...welll now we know..

The Italian woman was Sonia Gandhi...Her copassenger Manmohan Singh, the flight India, and the travellers the hapless citizens of the country.

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/india-inc-has-2-yrs-for-quota-centre/11099-3.html

According to this story the Government is planning to give private sector a 2yrs time to introduce voluntary Quota or face the law.
I think now the time has come that this government should go. They are hell bent on dividing this country.
What kind of social justice are they talking about? In spite of being in power for the most part of post independence India this government still cannot provide quality primary education. The state of primary schools in India is known to all.

Reservation in TN has only served as a deterrent to 5% uppercastes in that state from getting all opportunities.

I feel there is major improvement required in the education system of India. Apart from the quota thing i wish India should be quota free as soon as possible. The Education for economically weaker should be fully funded by Central Govt. We guys are paying so high taxes. Most of us guys posting here belong to middle segment of the society. Have all completed our studies in private schools and struggling hard to get into any of the govt colleges (MAMC, DCE, NSIT, AIIMS, HINDU, SOMAIYA, NITIE, IIT) why not amity or other pvt. universities. So Most important is to bring this point forward to bring a revolution in govt schools. If govt can bring such a drastic change in giving admission and scholarships to so called backward classes(which i dont prefer to seggregate). First motive should be to make education free. Promote Govt Schools. Pump in teachers. Keep check keep tracks on teachers and education standards. Free Books. Improved Libraries.
Also i heard the Finance Minister said yesterday the reservation thingworked in the south, so it will work there as well. This much atleast i have experienced in my life at 23 years of age that system is not a nut or a bolt or a RAM of PC which can be plugged everywhere and anywhere. Systems need to be customized according to the situations. They might need to be modulated on different frequency depending on region.
I have been tracking the whole issue closely on NDTV some one from IIM said open a new Reserved Category IIM. Phuleez We should not let this happen, we are not to promote castism, but to erase this word and make it history.

A suggestion:
Coming back to Education issue: Govt policy of Each one teach one doesnt seems to be working. I have not taught myself any underprivileged. A Major change is required in the whole education. Each one of us B.TEch. B.E, MBBS, B.A, B.Com, CA, MBA, B.Sc, M.Sc, MCA. to name any Graduate or Post Graduate Level course should have compulsory module to teach in some govt. school as assistants or trainee teachers.
Everyone who needs there degree have to teach in any of govt schools in there respective states.
Benefits:
1. Those places where there is lack of teacher every-year thousands and lakhs of people graduate so more teacher(though temporary ones)
2. Individual like me and you see the situation around hence i feel i would try to be more responsible Indian citizen.
3. Some pay should be there from govt. to these temporary teachers (stipend) which motivates them to work as a govt. trainee employee. There should be a certificate issued to every candidate without which degree shouldn’t be considered completed.
4. A individual who teaches obviously for those people who have some hesitation to give lectures and can improve interpersonal skills.

aur bhaiyo wat do u think abt people getting MBBS degree from private college only on the basis of money, and they build up a multifacility hospital also which accomodates best dr from premier institutes and that guy head them all..
to aap iske vare mein kuch khaenge?
bhaiyo aur bahano due to reservation many deprived families are finding their status in hindu society and according to a survey conducted by national human welfare commission most of poor belongs to obc and sc/st so giving them opprtunity through reservation is purely not a politics agenda..its towards the slogan of congress ka hath aam aadmi ke sath....i really appreciate the move of the UPA govt.

Did he not talk to 1,00,000 children the year before he got elected ?
How are we going to achieve his Vision 2020 ?

Dear Mr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, the reason is simple. Equal opportunity for all does not mean that SC/ST/OBC candidates be denied of their entry in premier institutions. It just means they should compete with General category candidates for education. There is no question of "pet pe laat maarna" as you have suggested. It is just that a meritorious candidate should get the seat instead of non-meritorious candidate. If SC/ST/OBC candidates have merit in them, nobody can deny them, right? -NEO.

Friends

on 21st may 2006, a group of 23 students from Delhi university, J.N.U.., and Professionals went to President's House and filed a petition appealing the president to allow themselves to end their lives in case this bill is implemented.

This is historic, it is first time in the world history when such a large group has requested " mercy - death" sanction from the state head.

we appeal all of you to read that appeal and if you feel the same , then please do forward similar requests to President of India.

21 May 2006

The Honorable President,

Republic of India

Respected First Citizen of India

Sub: Appeal for permission for mercy-killing of self

The "Reservation Policy", as being proposed by the Government of India, attempts to divide the people of India in name of caste. It puts a permanent deathblow to our dream of a unified India where all are equal. It also severely jeopardizes our future in terms of earning a rightful career and livelihood.

We want to emphasize that the government is obliged by constitution to not only protect our right to life, right to education and right to livelihood, but also the right to live with dignity.

Following the examples of the great builders of our nation, we have always learnt that a life without dignity is worse than death. With implementation of the proposed reservation policy, this hope of living with dignity will be destroyed forever.

Thus, we, as law-abiding citizens of India, seek your permission to allow us to end our lives through mercy-killing, in the event of implementation of the proposed reservation policy.

Thanking you,

Yours respectfully

The Undersigned

This thing about the reservation working in the south is false. What happened in the south is discrimination and not reservation where only a very small section of the population was in the general category. Thanks to the rest of India this small section could be absorbed in institutions outside the states.

Going through the interview I could only feel that he has only Government and Parliament as his shield to protect him against the stupid, orthodox decision he has taken.

He dint have answers to any of the questions. What sort of minister he is that he doesn't even have that much of farsightedness to judge as to how much time will be required for setting up new infrastructures and recruitments.

He is a bull headed fellow, adamant on his thoughts,

Taking it against his ego to rethink upon what he spoke.

If this thing happens to us, tomorrow any Tom Dick and Harry like him will

Come and start taking any useless decisions and hamper our very future.

Some people think uselessly from their less used minds to take useless decisions.

NATIONAL ANTHEM IDEA... IS REALLY GREAT...
CONSIDERING:
IF SOMEONE DISTURBS YOU WHILE SINGING NATIONAL ANTHEM THAT PERSON IS ACTUALLY INSULTING THE ANTHEM AND IS SUBJECT TO PROSECUTION.
ALL ARE SUPPOSED TO STAND STILL WHILE SINGING NATIONAL ANTHEM OR WHILE A NATIONAL ANTHEM IS BEING SUNG.
GREAT IDEA TO NAIL THOSE POLICEMEN AND POLITICIANS...

The Congress-led UPA Government is completing two years in power today. The former Finance Minister (during NDA Government), Yashwant Sinha, always said that our country is in the grip of an economic depression but he forgot that students' depression can create a crisis worse than that. The NDA Government had to face the music in the year of 2004. When the Congress-led UPA Government came to power in 2004, we, the youths, were experiencing strange excitement and enthusiasm and were expecting that something is going to happen in the future. But our experience with the UPA Government has been rather negative. A bitter sense of humiliation, harassment and frustration has filled young people in the wake of the proposed reservation policy of the Central Government. The reservation policy being introduced by the Government is reminiscent of the British Raj aiming at dividing the country on caste and communal lines. Any movement against the injustice being meted out to meritorious students in the name of reservations is being suppressed by lathis and police might. Are we living in a democracy? The Hon'ble HRD Minister Arjun Singh has spoken that those who speak against reservations should abide by the Constitution. One must remind him that Constitution was being framed by the people and for the people. No Constitution deprives any movement for education and jobs solely on merit. Each citizen of this country has freedom of expression. There is a need for an open debate behind the rationale of enhancing reservation quotas and the injustice being meted out to merit. We acknowledge the right of the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes to be able to have access to formal education and development. But the Government, instead of equipping them with education, is hell bent on merely providing reservation quotas for the OBC/SC/STs. Many people belonging to "socalled" backward castes in villages do not have access to basic primary education, sanitation and skilful employment. They are still being discriminated while a privileged few who have the resources, take advantage of such reservation quotas and gain entry into government jobs or higher education. The Government should honestly think as to why no real upliftment of the backward castes has happened despite imposing reservations over the last 58 years. The above reservations instead of bridging the gap between the haves and have-nots is deepening the divide between them and is poisoning the secular fabric of our country by depriving certain meritorious students from higher education and jobs. The politicians cutting across all political lines, are not concerned with the equipping of the backward castes with basic primary education and ensuring a level playing field for them, but merely announce reservation quotas which benefit a privileged few and seem to have fulfilled their promise of caste upliftment. As the elections in India is decided on caste and communal lines, votebank politics ensures the continuance of reservation quotas and neglect of merit. This spells doom for an emerging vibrant India as it deprives the meritorious students from deciding India's future. It is these students from the fields of engineering, medical, management and science who are going to shape the future vision of our country and not our tainted politicians. Reservations does not even help an OBC/SC/ST student, as there is always be a question mark over his talent, howsoever educated he may be, because the society may look down upon him as being benefited from quotas.

Everyone should be given equal access to participate in a 100 metre race. However, before the beginning of the race, u cannot have one person near the finishing line, while leaving the other one behind. Reservation quotas are like participating in a Formula One race, where the OBCs, SCs and STs hold the pole position, while the others occupy the last positions. In such a case, there is always a question mark over the winner of the race. The Government is now keen on taking up reservations in private sector too. A day will come when even hawking zones will be demarcated along caste lines. So the very purpose of reservations instituted by the Architect of the constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for unifying the backward castes alongwith the others is being defeated and it encourages further caste bias and disharmony.
The peaceful movement being organized by the medical students cannot be ignored by the Government and suppressed by lathis. 'A small movement today can spark off a major revolution which will ensure a vibrant and developed India, where each person irrespective of caste, creed, religion and community will have access to basic primary education, drinking water, sanitation and academic development solely on merit. There shall be no misgivings and disharmony among today's youth in their endeavour to integrate the various sections of our society in a bid to develop an unified India.'
Let us support the cause of an unified India and say 'No' to reservations.

Yours faithfully,

Anjani K. Tiwari,

....that the very parliamnet is by the people of this nation and its they who are now saying no this proposal from every nook and corner of the country... WELL I ALSO BELIEVED SO THAT IN THIS COUNTRY, THERE IS DEMOCRACY; BY THE PEOPLE, OF THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE. BUT IT SEEMS, IT IS: BY THE BACKWARDS, FOR THE BACKWARDS AND OF THE BACKWARDS.
IT IS HIGH TIME, BEFORE BACKWARDNESS TAKES OVER AND THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS TURNED INTO ONE BIG BIHAR, IT IS BETTER THE THE BACKWARDS SEPARTE OUT AND MAKE A MESS OF THEIR PORTION OF THE COUNTRY. IF THINGS CONTINUE THE WAY THESE POLITICIANS ARE ALLOWING IT TO CONTINUE, I SEE ANOTHER DIVISION OF THE COUNTRY, THIS TIME ON CAST LINES. GOD GRANT SOME SENSE TO THESE SINGHS SO THAT THEY RISE ABOVE THIS VOTE POLITICS AND SEE SENSE THAN THEIR VOTE BANKS; OR GIVE ME MY PORTION OF THE COUNTRY WHERE I CAN LIVE AS AN EQUAL, ABOVE BOUNDRIES OF CAST AND RELIGION.

It is just baseless & selfish movement. If you want to see real india, go to the adivasis area or any village. The backward people are leaving seperately from main village. These people are survivng under uppercasts like gulams. These are under huge pressure. they can not think even to admit their children in primary schools & you are the people saying that government should increase quality level of primary education. Government can't go every day every home to fetch the children for education. If you have gutts then start the movement "primary education for all for Equality". Not just start but work on it by leaving in villages. You will observe that the backward class people are too good for selfish people like you.

Dear youth for equality West Bengal,

i appreciate that atleast you guys are sane enough to understand the voice of the opposition has to be listened.
Well, we are also listening to your arguments and many of these are well formed and informed opinions.
But, the major problem is that the media, which is unfortunately biased has not able to create a conducive debate and has tried to be more rhetorical than authentic as if it is fighting your battle rather than you guys.
Well, the way forward is to sit and discuss the matter but you can neither browbeat the government neither the backward castes.
It is agreed that incereasing the seats will put pressure on the already fragile education system but even than dont you think it will benefit thousands of your bretheren, who are backward caste. Even the general category seats will increase.
And i must also say sirs, that CASTE is a reality you can not wish away just by saying now that we dont believe in casteism.
Why do you guys suddenly feel that there should be no caste when ffor last hundred years there was no such demands.
Anyway thanks for being balanced as it very difficult to be so in such hyper times. Had the Indian media shown some sense, we might have been able to sit together and find a solution.
But, it now appears that the twains shall never meet.

For the guys in YFE, people like me are starting a support campaign. I have blogged it on my site also

Here's the jist of it -

Most of us use a 2 wheeler or a car to go to office. I suggest switching on the headlights whenever you ride - its a signal that we are anti-reservations by the govt. in its current form. If you see another person riding with the headlights on - give them a 'hi'. My aim is to have people realize that there are a lot of more people supporting anti-quota reservations than what one sees in a rally - cause we may not know when the rally is or where , or may not be able to go due to some reason.

So, please pass on the message, and ride with your headlights on.

Death knows no reservations, so why should Life?

Its my message to those who wants reservation that "You cannot make anyone win a 100 meter sprint just by reserving his seat in final 10 no you cant because if it was possible then India would have suerly won 10 Gold Medals at Least in Olympics where as India hasnt won even a single in the event till date. I just want to say that there is no caste of Talent n Sprit. the people who have these qualities emerge as winner in adversest of situatuions. A clear example of this is Budhia Singh who is born to run. and there are many like him present in the far flung areas of India. India has many Sachins, Abdul Kalams ,Kalpna Chawla and many more.

I agree that they were affected but now if u r sayin

make a healthy democracy .
Now everyone is same and should be treated same in all
categories, fields.

if one gets 30 rank and althuogh the reserved gets
1000 rank he'll also get admitted. how can he prove
his talency is there any match.

My opinion is in all fields like Engg , medical and
all ,the admission should b on merit basis.

I'm against the decision taken by Arjun Singh and

One really fees anger, frustration and what not on seeing Arjun Singh on TV. Don't know what the hell he wants. I am sure he knows he is wrong but thez politicians ...................they r a blot on our society. Vote bank politics................ Why don'nt they provide free education etc. to the deserving ones instead of quotas. The parliamentary committee itself admits that the Govt is unaware of the exact no. of OBC's. Another report says that most of the backward claases do not continue education after primary school. And it's only the cremy layer which gets the undue benefit over the general students.Still the govt follows the policy of appeasement.
It's time folks we stand out & voice our opinion.
Really even a person of the stature of Manmohan Singh has to be silent spectator due to vote bank politics.

I strongly support the protest of these doctors.

It seems while congress has become heartless and useless even other parties have become dumb and deaf.

I suggest we should invite people from private firms and corporates as well to support and join hands for these types of protest.

These employees of private firms like Wipro, Infy, Reliance etc. support "youth for equality" and are angry with the treatment given to docs by govt.

They are also aware that If this foolish government can act in nazism way with these docs, then they will one day strike a blow at corporates as well some day.

I think concept of reservation divides the society. India should get rid of reservation concept from all sectors.
We should have 0% reservation in jobs, education.

It is shameful that just for vested political interest our leaders have started playing divide and rule.

The day is not far off when a patient will first ask the surname of the doctor to confirm that he /she is not visisting a doctor belonging to SC/ST/OBC.

I really want the govenrment to stay firm on their ground for some more amount of time. Because if they do, I think not only the quota but the government will also have to go.

Look at what happend to King of Nepal who was trying to act as a dictator against the wishes of people. Now his nither king nor he has any power.

Yesterday UPA celebrated 2 years, here are some achivements
1. Selling of Nuclear Reactors to U.S.A, deffering of test of Agni2 missile for two years.
2. increasing price of every comodity while also introducing VAT, service tax and more taxes.
3.Breaking down so called illigal houses and closing down shops along with safegarding their own illigal properties.
4. introduing QUOTA for financially well but socially backward(OBC) people and dividing country.

Dear We invite you to present your view on current reservation policy, which is based on the caste. You are welcome in both cases whether you support current policy or oppose it.

Please answer these questions in your mail-

The reason behind reservation was to eliminate the caste system prevailing in India.
a) Do You think that current policy has succeded in doing so ?
b) Do you agree that you get knowledge of your friend's caste ony when you fills a form for entrance exams or governemnt job?
c) So do you now also agree that this reservation policy based on the caste will help to end the castes in indian society ? If yes then how?
Reservation Policy was to provide opportunity to backward classes(based on the castes) in the indian society.
a) Do you think that after 60 year of independence the backward society(based on caste) has benifited from this?
b) Is all sections of the OBC/SC/ST caste has benfited from this? Is in this classes only a division has occured while some are getting the whole benifits of the reservation while some get nothing.
Reservation was there to end the in-equality in indian society. So that there are no differences from one men to another in this scociety. a) Is there inequality on the basis of caste & relogion only ?
b) You don't think the greatest ineuality is on the basis of money only.A person belonging to any caste or religion if he/she is poor then he has to suffer most in every field.
Reservation has become the most mis-used tool by polticians of impelmenting the DIVIDE & RULE POLICY similar to British rule.
a) They are dividing us on the basis of caste & religions.
b) Actual problems of population, poverty, illetracy, corruption etc are being ignored.
Reservation nust be there but the policy must be changed.
a) Reservation must be on the basis of ECONOMIC PROSPERTY only, for all castes & relogions.
b) So that the division is not on the basis of caste & religion.
c) We support that the special privilage must be given to weaker section of society. But weaker means the econmically backward not the socially backward.
Do you not think that in cities the scoial inequality has ended?
a)You don't think that of which caste u'r friend is before making the freindship.Tell me yes or no.
b)You don't think that non-reservated section of society is being treated in simillar way as the jews were treated in Germany.Tell me yes or no.
SO FOR PROMTING THE EQUALITY IN THE INDIAN SOCIETY PLEASE RESPOND BACK WITH YOUR VALUABLE VIEWS.

Hello,

This student protest under the banner of 'Youth For Equality' aims for quality education to the deserving meritorious candidates irrespective of their caste. The protest does not say anything about the competency of any particular caste in India. THIS IS NOT A PROTEST AGAINST ANY PARTICULAR CASTE. SO FAR THE POLITICIANS IN INDIA HAVE DIVIDED US IN THE NAMES OF CASTE, WE THE YOUNGER GENERATION OF INDIA DO NOT WANT TO CARRY FORWARD THIS ATTITUDE ANYMORE. Please don't get sidetracked from the motto of protest.

Intresting to read this comments.

My view is that, politicians are trying to hide the major problem of providing proper infrastructure and well edcuated teachers for Governement schools and rural schools.

Since they are not able to provide the best of education and infrastructure, they want to bring in reservations so as to accomdate people comming out from this schools/colleges.

The real thing I personally feel is which ever section he/she belongs to, need proper infrastructure and economic support to complete their education. If this problem addressed there will not be any reservation.

The econmic support that the government provides to this people has to be evaluated every years so that there can be checks.

In this way we can support all sections of the society.

Let me tell you even after providing reservations if they dont have money to spend on education "who will join". This will benefit the middle class or richer section of that category. We are not addressing the poor people here, were they will get money.

Dear SONU

For every crime you say it is such and such caste..

I'll line up 20 persons , you interview them and tell me which caste are they from

The capabilities and the talent can be assessed,
In today's world caste cannot be judged.

So it is impossible to judge in a mob violence which caste is attacking which caste.

By the way , post Godhara did any leader of any caste step out of the confines of their cocoon and had the guts to say..'over my dead body ?'..

You see the point,
there are enough dalits leaders also, BUT ARE THEY REALLY INTERESTED IN DEVELOPING THE STATE OF THE DOWNTRODDEN?

This media is not only suppressing truth but popularising falsehood, myths and promoting anti-social elements. Our people feel totally neglected in this monopoly mass media —the monopoly of the Brahminical Social Order.
The media is owned by the big business and managed by the upper castes.
In India, class and caste are the same.
Fortunately the influence of the media particularly the print media is limited. The English-knowing people are less than 2%. And those reading language papers are not even 30%. That is how the "India shining" false propaganda failed to click.
Why the media is anti-Dalit? This is because Dalits are hardly represented in the media.

This is the finding of a survey made in Delhi newspapers and journals. The same is true of Bangalore. And all other cities. Such is the deep-rooted prejudice against our people. How can such a media have social responsibility?

I am not criticising any individual for India's fast-expanding intellectual desert. The fault lies with the class-caste structure of India.

We cannot reform the media alone or any other sector of our society without destroying the existing class-caste nexus.

You like it or not, today's rulers of India belong to the upper class and upper caste. That is why it always upholds the status quo.

That is why every section of our society is in a deep crisis. And media is a small part of this society.

English dailies excel in trivia and trash and this is what today's readers also want.

Something is going wrong with our English-knowing population which is fortunately not even 2%.

But this 2% are the decision-makers and owners of property.

This is the cream of our society. But, alas, this cream is totally rotten. Rotten to the core.

Being over-fed, the full-time pre-occupation of this ruling class is entertainment and more entertainment — endless entertainment. The media has to cater to this tiger-turned man-eater.

Madest daily
That is why the English dailies are going mad. The Times of India is heading this list. The only daily which still remains somewhat sane is the Hindu, the Mount Road Mahavishnu — though it is also coming under pressure to go mad. I am warning you. Todays page-2 may soon become page-1.

We find hardly any hope in the existing national media.

We are deeply worried. The sickness has spread to the entire elite society.

We Dalits are the worst victims of this ruling class sickness.

The country is facing all-round crisis. The media is a small, though a powerful, part of this sick society. Sorry for this pessimistic picture but it is true.

This is the picture of the Indian society that we Dalits see daily. And we get this picture as we see this society from the bottom. The future appears bleak.

NEW DELHI: The main grouse of AIIMS students - at the forefront of the stir against 27% reservation for OBCs - is that merit is being sacrificed at the altar of votebank politics. But they forget two things: 25% reservation that AIIMS graduates get in PG admission and the Supreme Court judgment of 2001 that declares the earlier system of 33% reservation for them bad in law.

In fact, the SC, while stating that 33% institutional reservation is "unconstitutional", agreed with the findings of the Delhi High Court, which had earlier set aside the reservation.

The HC had found that "AIIMS students, who had secured as low as 14% or 19% or 22% in the (all-India) entrance examination got admission to PG courses while SC or ST candidates could not secure admission in their 15% or 7% quota in PG courses, in spite of having obtained marks far higher than the in-house candidates of the institute." HC had analysed admission data over five years.

The apex court also agreed with the HC that the "figure of 33% reservation for in-house candidates was statistically so arrived at as to secure 100% reservation for AIIMS students. There were about 40 AIIMS candidates. The PG seats being 120, 33% thereof worked out to be 40." That meant all 40 AIIMS graduates were assured of PG seats.

Merit here was clearly being sacrificed, the study showed. For instance, in the January 1996 session, an AIIMS student with 46.167% marks - lowest for an AIIMS student that year - got PG admission.

However, an SC student with the same grades was admitted but denied coveted course such as obstetrics and gynaecology. The SC student got shunted to community while AIIMS students easily won berths in prestigious disciplines.

Twelve AIIMS candidates were selected even though they got less marks than the SC candidate who secured 60.33% marks. Similarly, 16 AIIMS students got admission to PG courses even though they got less marks than another ST student who got 62.16%.

Basing itself on this study, SC said, "Institutional reservation is not supported by the Constitution or constitutional principles." "A certain degree of preference for students of the same institution intended to prosecute further studies therein is permissible on grounds of convenience, suitability and familiarity with an educational environment," it added.

Preferences, the court said, had to be "reasonable and not excessive...Minimum standards cannot be so diluted as to become practically non-existent." In the similar vein, SC said, "It cannot be forgotten that the medical graduates of AIIMS are not 'sons of soil'. They are drawn from all over the country."

The court reasoned that these students had "no moorings in Delhi. They are neither backward nor weaker sections of society. Their achieving an all-India merit and entry in the premier institution of national importance should not bring in a brooding sense of complacence in them".

Extending the damning logic, the court said in preserving quotas for its own students, "the zeal for preserving excellence is lost. The students lose craving for learning."

Well Atlas and anonymous have raised interesting questions and i must say i will answer them without any qualms. It is good that we listen to each other with an open mind.
I post an interesting article by Yogendra yada of CNN_IBN fame And Satish Chandrathat would answer some of your queries.

To begin with i must say that it is shocking that students from our very best institutions are willing to re-enact the horribly inappropriate forms of protest from the original anti-Mandal agitation of 1990-91.
As symbolic acts, street-sweeping or shoe-shining send the callous and arrogant message that some people — castes? — are indeed fit only for menial jobs, while others are `naturally' suited to respectable professions such as engineering and medicine.
Perhaps the most crucial constant is the absence of a favourable climate of opinion. Outside the robust contestations of politics proper, our public life continues to be disproportionately dominated by the upper castes.
It is unsurprising, but still a matter of concern, that the dominant view denies the very validity of affirmative action. Indeed the antipathy towards reservations may have grown in recent years. The main problem is that the dominant view sees quotas and the like as benefits being handed out to particular caste groups.
This leads logically to the conclusion that power-hungry politicians and vote bank politics are the root causes of this problem. But to think thus is to put the cart before the horse.

rational and dispassionate analysis of this issue must begin with the one crucial fact that is undisputed by either side — the overwhelming dominance of upper castes in higher and especially professional education. Although undisputed, this fact is not easy to establish, especially in the case of our elite institutions, which have always been adamant about refusing to reveal information on the caste composition of their students and faculty. But the more general information that is available through the National Sample Survey Organisation clearly shows the caste-patterning of educational inequality. Some of the relevant data are shown in Tables 1 and 2.

Table 1 shows the percentage of graduates in the population aged 20 years or above in different castes and communities in rural and urban India. Only a little more than 1 per cent of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Muslims are graduates in rural India, while the figure for Hindu upper castes is four to five times higher at over 5 per cent. The real inequalities are in urban India, where the SCs in particular, but also Muslims, OBCs, and STs are way behind the forward communities and castes with a quarter or more of their population being graduates. Another way of looking at it is that STs, SCs, Muslims, and OBCs are always below the national average while the other communities and especially Hindu upper castes are well above this average in both rural and urban India.

Table 2 shows the share of different castes and communities in the national pool of graduates as compared to their share of the total population aged 20 years or more. In other words, the table tells us which groups have a higher than proportionate (or lower than proportionate) share of graduates. Once again, with the exception of rural Hindu OBCs and urban STs, the same groups are severely under-represented while the Hindu upper castes, Other Religions (Jains, Parsis, Buddhists, etc.), and Christians are significantly over-represented among graduates. Thus the Hindu upper castes' share of graduates is twice their share in the population aged 20 or above in rural India, and one-and-a-half times their share in the population aged 20 or above in urban India. Compare this, for example, to urban SCs and Muslims, whose share of graduates is only 30 per cent and 39 per cent respectively of their share in the 20 and above population.

It should be emphasised that these data refer to all graduates from all kinds of institutions countrywide — if we were to look at the elite professional institutions, the relative dominance of the upper castes and forward communities is likely to be much stronger, although such institutions refuse to publish the data that could prove or disprove such claims.

Although it is implicitly conceded by both sides, upper caste dominance is explained in opposite ways. The upper castes claim that their preponderance is due solely to their superior merit, and that there is nothing to be done about this situation since merit should indeed be the sole criterion in determining access to higher education. In fact, they may go further to assert that any attempt to change the status quo can only result in "the murder of merit." Those who are for affirmative action argue that the traditional route to caste dominance — namely, an upper caste monopoly over higher education — still remains effective despite the apparent abolition of caste. From this perspective, the status quo is an unjust one requiring state intervention on behalf of disadvantaged sections who are unable to force entry under the current rules of the game. More extreme views of this kind may go on to assert that merit is merely an upper caste conjuring trick designed to keep out the lower castes.

What is wrong with this picture? Nothing, except that it is only part of a much larger frame. For if we understand merit as sheer innate ability, it is difficult to explain why it should seem to be an upper caste monopoly. Whatever people may believe privately, it is now beyond doubt that arguments for the genetic or natural inferiority of social groups are unacceptable. If so, how is it that, roughly speaking, one quarter of our population supplies three quarters of our elite professionals? The explanation has to lie in the social mechanisms through which innate ability is translated into certifiable skill and encashable competence. This points to intended or unintended systemic exclusions in the educational system, and to inequalities in the background resources that education presupposes.

It is their confidence in having monopolised the educational system and its prerequisites that sustains the upper caste demand to consider only merit and not caste. If educational opportunities were truly equalised, the upper castes' share in professional education would be roughly in proportion to their population share, that is, between one fourth and one third. This would not only be roughly one third of their present strength in higher education; it would also be much less than the 50 per cent share they are assured of even after implementation of OBC reservations!

If the upper caste view needs an unexamined notion of merit that ignores the social mechanisms that bring it into existence, the lower caste or pro-reservation view appears to require that merit be emptied of all its content. While this is indeed true of some militant positions, the peculiar circumstances of Indian higher education also allow alternative interpretations. In a situation marked by absurd levels of "hyper-selectivity" — 300,000 aspirants competing for 4000 IIT seats, for example — merit gets reduced to rank in an examination. As educationists know only too well, the examination is a blunt instrument. It is good only for making broad distinctions in levels of ability; it cannot tell us whether a person scoring 85 per cent would definitely make a better engineer or doctor than somebody scoring 80 per cent or 75 per cent or even 70 per cent.

In short, it is only a combination of social compulsion and pure myth that sustains the crazy world of cut-off points and second decimal place differences that dominate the admission season. Such fetishised notions of merit have nothing to do with any genuine differences in ability. The caste composition of higher education could well be changed without any sacrifice of merit simply by instituting a lottery among all candidates of broadly similar levels of ability — say, the top 15 or 25 per cent of a large applicant pool.

But the inequities of our educational system are so deeply entrenched that caste inequalities might persist despite some change. We would then be back where we started — with the apparent dichotomy between merit and social justice in higher education. How do we transcend this dilemma? Is there a way forward where both merit and social justice can be given their due?

If the general seats are not affected why are you then complaining.
